Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

In agreement with the vision of the Integrated Academics and Behavior Systems of NC DPI, Rutherford County Schools believes that "NC MTSS is the most effective and efficient approach to improving district, school, and student outcomes thereby ensuring a sound basic education for all."

MTSS is a multi-tiered framework that promotes school improvement through engaging, research-based academic and behavioral practices.  NC MTSS employs a systems approach using data-driven problem solving to maximize growth for all.

In coordination with the Responsiveness to Intervention(RtI) model, MTSS provides consistent practices for the identification of students who struggle, targeted tiered instruction and intervention supports, and timely progress monitoring.  MTSS also supports methods to enhance Core teaching practices, as well as, provide opportunities for enrichment and acceleration of learning.  diamond
