Rutherford County Schools closely follows guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, from the Division of Public Health at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and from local public health officials in order to reduce or prevent the spread of this and other illnesses, including the common cold and influenza, within the school environment.

Tammie Ash, principal at Forrest W. Hunt Elementary, was selected as the 2019-2020 Principal of the Year for Rutherford County Schools.
